Romeo Beckham has decided to retire at the age of 22 after being dissatisfied with his own football performance. The son of football legend David Beckham has left Brentford and chosen to pursue a career in fashion. According to The Sun, Romeo was unhappy when the London club asked him to continue playing for the reserve team.
Romeo Beckham began training with the club in 2023 after previously playing for Inter Miami, his father’s MLS team. However, he decided to return to England to seek opportunities in the Premier League but faced difficulties, leading him to abandon his football career in favor of following his mother’s path in fashion.
In the past, Romeo has dabbled in fashion, appearing in a Burberry campaign at just 10 years old and being named the 26th best-dressed man in Britain in 2011. More recently, he signed a £1.2 million deal with Puma in 2021 and modeled for Yves Saint Laurent and Vogue in the same year.
Previously, Romeo took a break from football after failing to meet the technical requirements of Arsenal in 2015 and shifted to tennis. However, he returned to football in 2020 and signed with Inter Miami in 2021.
Statistics show that Romeo Beckham made 26 appearances for Inter Miami II, scoring 2 goals and providing 10 assists in his final season with the MLS reserve team before moving to Brentford on loan in January 2023.
